Babe Ruth Jersey Sells For $24M, Breaks Mickey Mantle Rookie Card Record
A New York Yankees jersey worn by Babe Ruth sold for $24.12 million on Sunday, reported Boardroom, shattering the record for the most expensive piece of sports memorabilia sold at auction.
Per CNN, Ruth wore the uniform when he “called shot” during Game 3 of the 1932 World Series against the Chicago Cubs. The previous record for the most-paid sports collectible came in 2022 when fellow Yankee Mickey Mantle’s 1952 rookie card fetched $12.6 million in 2022.
