Animal Care Services Needs Adopters to Empty the Shelters, Reduced Adoption Fees

COSA ACS News Release — Hundreds of adoption-ready pets are waiting for new homes in our community’s shelters. San Antonio Animal Care Services (SAACS) is hoping residents will help ease overcrowding by opting to adopt a new companion. SAACS is hosting an Empty the Shelters event from now through July 31 with reduced $25 adoption fees for both dogs and cats.

Sponsored by the BISSELL Pet Foundation, this three-week event aims to save the lives of shelter pets while easing overcrowding during the busiest time of year at the municipal shelter. Through the foundation’s support, SAACS also receives a lifesaving donation for every pet placed with a new family—those funds go right back into helping even more dogs and cats in the shelter!

Adoptions are first-come, first-served, and standard adoption policies apply. All pets adopted from SAACS are sterilized, vaccinated with their first round of shots, and microchipped with a free lifetime registration. Additionally, dog adopters have access to basic obedience training opportunities. Would-be adopters can get started on their adoption journey by checking out the shelter’s pets at saacs.info/PetSearch.
