Angel Reese Shuts Down RGIII Claim About Caitlin Clark

Angel Reese Shuts Down RGIII’s Claim About Caitlin Clark and Her Inner Circle

Angel Reese and her mother aren’t letting false narratives slide. On Thursday, July 10, the Chicago Sky forward took to social media platform X to address former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III (RGIII), who publicly claimed he had inside knowledge that she “hates” fellow WNBA star Caitlin Clark.

“Lying on this app when everybody know the first and last name of everybody in my circle for clout is nastyyyy work,” Reese wrote.

While she didn’t mention RGIII by name, the post came directly after he went on a lengthy thread alleging her supposed resentment for Clark stems from media comparisons and constant questions.

RGIII’s “Inside Source” Claims Denied by Reese’s Mom

RGIII’s comments started as a condemnation of a racist meme depicting Reese’s “NBA 2K26: WNBA Edition” cover as a monkey. But in the same breath, he accused Reese of sharing a video that led to threats against his family—and doubled down on claims that “people in Angel’s inner circle” told him she “hates” Clark.

“I never attacked her or her family when I stated… Angel Reese hates Caitlin Clark,” RGIII said. “Some people made it about race, but I never did.”

Reese’s mom, Ange Webb Reesel, immediately jumped in to reject the narrative.

“Man stop with the [🧢],” she wrote. “My daughter’s ‘circle’ is so small & tight… whoever U say ‘called’ U is not in her circle 2 speak on her feelings toward a media/fandom made up beef. Just stay on that side bc the doors are closed over here.”

Media-Fueled Rivalry Denied by Both Players

Since their college days, Reese and Clark have been media targets in a rivalry narrative that both players have denied. While competitive on the court, both have maintained there is no real-life beef between them.

Clark, now with the Indiana Fever, and Reese, who was drafted seventh to the Sky, have often found themselves unfairly compared or pitted against one another by fans and commentators.

RGIII’s decision to revive the speculation, under the guise of defending Reese, sparked backlash not just from Reese and her mom but from other commentators as well.

Ryan Clark Calls Out RGIII’s ‘Fascination’

Analyst Ryan Clark called out RGIII’s “strange fascination” with Angel Reese, criticizing him for inserting himself into narratives that only fan the flames.

“At some point you have to ask, why is he still talking about her?” one user replied in support.

RGIII’s effort to defend Reese from racism was overshadowed by his unfounded claims about her personal relationships—claims both Reese and her mother firmly rejected.
