I Am Very Vocal About What We Need and What I Want,” She Said With the Team’s Record Standing at 10-30

Following Wednesday night’s victory, Angel Reese walked back some earlier remarks that had sparked headlines. She explained she had already apologized to her teammates and admitted her frustration may have been misunderstood.

“I think the language was taken out of context,” she said. “I didn’t intentionally mean to put down my teammates because they’ve been through this with me throughout the whole year.”

Reese Calls for Roster Improvements

The two-time WNBA All-Star made it clear she expects the Chicago Sky to raise their standards this offseason.

“I’m not settling for the same … we did this year. We have to get good players. We have to get great players. That’s a non-negotiable for me,” Reese told the Chicago Tribune.

Chicago Must Plan for the Future

Reese pointed out that the franchise cannot rely solely on injured veteran Courtney Vandersloot, who helped lead the team to its only championship in 2021.
“We can’t rely on Courtney to come back at the age that she’s at,” Reese said. “We need someone probably a little younger with some experience … willing to compete for a championship and has done it before.”

Star Rookie Emerges as Franchise Cornerstone

Despite missing time with a back issue, Reese is averaging 14.6 points and a league-leading 12.6 rebounds. She has quickly become the centerpiece of the Sky’s rebuilding process. Chicago sits at 10-30, with just three wins since the All-Star break.

Reese Wants a Championship Culture

Reese said her commitment to Chicago depends on whether the team commits to building a contender.
“I’d like to be here for my career, but if things don’t pan out, I might have to move in a different direction and do what’s best for me,” she said.
Still, Reese added: “While I am here, I’m going to try to stay open-minded about what I have here and maximize that as much as I can.”
