Five Years of AlamoPROMISE Delivers Results — $1.1 Billion in Local Impact and National Recognition for Innovation
The Alamo Colleges District is celebrating five years of success through its AlamoPROMISE scholarship program, now recognized nationally for expanding access to higher education and driving economic growth across Bexar County.
National Recognition for Local Impact
During Monday’s College Promise 10th Anniversary and Careers Institute at Palo Alto College, AlamoPROMISE will be honored with the National Impact Award from College Promise, recognizing programs that exemplify community commitment to student success.
AlamoPROMISE is a powerful example of how education transforms not just individual lives, but our community’s growth, said Dr. Mike Flores, Alamo Colleges District Chancellor. By removing cost as a barrier and connecting students to the support they need, we’re advancing our moonshot to end poverty through education.
Economic Growth and Student Success
A recent analysis found AlamoPROMISE generated over $1.1 billion in economic activity across Bexar County from 2019 to 2024, supporting more than 7,800 local jobs. Since its 2019 launch, more than 30,000 students have enrolled tuition-free through the program, with Fall 2025 marking the largest incoming class yet.
Investing in Opportunity
To date, the district has invested $16.3 million in AlamoPROMISE scholarships, with an additional $77 million from financial aid funding. The program remains a cornerstone of Alamo Colleges District’s effort to end poverty through education and training.
