A$AP Rocky ‘So Excited’ for Rihanna’s upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show performance

A$AP Rocky’s excitement for his partner Rihanna’s upcoming performance was palpable during a new interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.

The 34-year-old rapper sounded as ‘excited’ for the 34-year-old pop icon to get back to making music with her highly anticipated Super Bowl Halftime Show coming up next month on February 12.

‘I’m so glad that my lady’s back making music again and whatnot, and getting back out there,’ he gushed during the interview. ‘It’s just incredible.’

He seemed to think that the mother of his child was the best possible choice for the widely viewed performance.

‘The Super Bowl is huge, and her being the creative she is, she going to bring it, man. I’m excited. I’m more excited than everybody else, honestly,’ he continued.

Rihanna has not released a studio album since her hit 2016 album Anti, which also garnered some of the best reviews of her career.

Since then, she has been largely focused on her massively successful Fenty Beauty brand and her lingerie company Savage X Fenty.

In September of 2022, she released her first single since her long break, the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever track Lift Me Up, which received mixed reviews from critics and didn’t take off with fans.

However, she has confirmed she is working on new music, though she told Entertainment Weekly in November that her Halftime Show would be focused on music she had already released.

She previously told the Associated Press that fans should expect to wait longer for her to release new tunes.

‘Super Bowl is one thing. New music is another thing. Do you hear that, fans?’ she said.

Rocky (real name: Rakim Mayers) also took a detour to talk about his new life as a father and raising his first child with his love.

‘It’s just one of those things,’ he said of parenthood, adding that it is ‘unexplainable.’

‘I’m a member of our club now, like, the dad club. You see a dad, you see me. … I’m a full dad now,’ he continued.

Rocky, who made a splash with a surprise appearance at the Golden Globe Awards last week with Rihanna, explained that becoming a dad had also reinvigorated him creatively.

‘Being outside and working and being creative, it drives more energy for you … to think and soak things up like a sponge now that I’m a dad, because I have a whole [other] perspective,’ he explained. ‘But it honestly helps you get home to your family and get home to your baby. And I can’t even explain it.’

He said he was ‘so thankful’ that he got to ‘come home to heaven every day,’ adding ‘God is good.’

Rocky and Rihanna officially began dating in November of 2020, though they had been good friends for years before that.

In May, the We Found Love singer gave birth to their first child, a baby boy, though the couple haven’t shared his name publicly.

Rocky has been without a new album for almost as long as his love, as his last LP was 2018’s Testing.

However, he’s also working on a new release now, and on Wednesday he unveiled his latest single, Same Problems.

He explained to Lowe that the song was a tribute to departed rappers as he tried to work though his ‘sense of guilt’ at escaping their fate.

‘Without preaching too much, I just wanted to touch on something a bit different opposed to just being braggadocious, flamboyant and just regular rap content for me,’ Rocky shared. ‘I just wanted to express myself and tell how I felt without preaching. And I think we can all relate. We all got the same problems.’

The single, which was released on the 10th anniversary of his similarly titled track F***ing Problems, as well as the eighth anniversary of the death his his friend and collaborator A$AP Yams.
