Marsai Martin Joins HBCU First LOOK as 2025 Creative Ambassador

Marsai Martin Continues Her Mission to Amplify Young Black Creatives by Joining the Hbcu First Look Film Festival

Actress, producer, and entrepreneur Marsai Martin has been named Creative Ambassador for the 2025 HBCU First LOOK Film Festival. Scheduled for November 6-8 at Howard University, the festival aims to connect HBCU students and alumni with key figures in the film and television industry.

A Trailblazer in Hollywood

Martin, best known for her breakout role on Black-ish and for becoming the youngest executive producer in Hollywood at just 14 years old with the film Little, continues to break barriers. As founder of Genius Productions, she has consistently pushed for more opportunities for young, diverse creatives in film and media.

Fireside Chat to Open the Festival

As Creative Ambassador, Martin will open the festival with a fireside chat alongside comedian and Prairie View A&M alumna Loni Love. Organizers say the conversation is expected to inspire and motivate the next generation of Black filmmakers attending the event.

Expanding Festival Reach

The 2025 HBCU First LOOK Film Festival will feature workshops, panels, and showcases designed to nurture talent from historically Black colleges and universities. This year, a new Global Impact category is being introduced, encouraging international filmmakers to participate. The festival submission deadline is August 28.

Continuing a Mission

Martin’s involvement reflects her personal mission to expand access and representation in entertainment. By stepping into the role of ambassador, she not only supports the festival’s growth but also reinforces the importance of creative ownership and visibility for HBCU students and alumni pursuing careers in film.
