Agarita Wraps Season with Powerful Free Performances Featuring Imani Winds, Naomi Shihab Nye, and Tanesha Payne
Agarita, the city’s boundary-pushing chamber ensemble, is closing its 2024–2025 season with a pair of collaborative concerts that bring together award-winning talent in music, poetry, and dance — all at no cost to the public.
The free performances will take place:
• Saturday, June 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Diane Bennack Concert Hall (University of the Incarnate Word)
• Sunday, June 22 at 3:00 p.m. at the Charline McCombs Empire Theatre
Joining Agarita for this season finale is the GRAMMY-winning wind quintet Imani Winds, celebrated for their genre-bending artistry, along with beloved San Antonio poet Naomi Shihab Nye, and contemporary dancer Tanesha Payne of the local sumRset dance company. Together, the ensemble promises a powerful blend of live music, spoken word, and movement in an experience that reflects Agarita’s mission to make bold, accessible art for the community.

These concerts conclude a season filled with boundary-crossing performances and community-centered programming. Seating is free but limited. Full event details can be found at www.agarita.org.
