Want a vacation while saving lives? From June 17–24, South Texas Blood & Tissue is giving blood donors a chance to win big while making a real impact.
During this special campaign week, anyone who donates blood at a participating donor center will be entered into the Air, Land, and Sea Sweepstakes. One lucky donor will win a $500 gift card — and they get to choose how they travel. Whether by air (Southwest Airlines), land (Valero gas), or sea (Carnival Cruise), it’s a well-earned escape for a lifesaving act.
This summer sweepstakes comes at a crucial time. Blood donations typically decline during the warmer months due to school closures and family vacations, but the need remains constant. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, someone in the U.S. needs blood every two seconds, with more than 42,000 units of red blood cells, platelets, and plasma used daily to treat trauma patients, cancer survivors, new mothers, and more.
Patients like 3-year-old Cali remind us how critical donations can be. Diagnosed before birth with Alpha Thalassemia Major, a rare genetic blood disorder, Cali required transfusions while still in her mother’s womb. Today, she continues to rely on life-sustaining blood every four weeks — and will for the rest of her life.
