Trump Turns Memorial Day Message Into All-Caps Rant

Trump Hijacks Memorial Day Message With All-Caps Attack on Judges, Biden, and Democrats

President Donald Trump marked Memorial Day not with solemn remembrance, but with a series of inflammatory Truth Social posts railing against Democrats, federal judges, and his predecessor Joe Biden. In an all-caps tirade posted Monday morning, Trump began with a traditional greeting—“Happy Memorial Day to all”—before pivoting into a scathing attack.

“Including the scum that spent the last four years trying to destroy our country through warped radical left minds,” Trump wrote, accusing the Biden administration of allowing “21,000,000 people” to illegally cross the border, many of whom he labeled “criminals and the mentally insane.”

Judges Called ‘Monsters’ Amid Legal Frustrations

The president’s post also targeted the federal judiciary, blasting judges who have blocked parts of his administration’s immigration policies. Trump claimed they were shielding “murderers, drug dealers, rapists, gang members, and released prisoners from all over the world.” He called these judges “monsters” and said he hoped the U.S. Supreme Court and other “compassionate” justices would intervene to save the country.

Despite the hostile tone, Trump ended the message with a note of optimism: “We have made great progress over the last 4 months, and America will soon be safe and great again! Again, Happy Memorial Day, and God Bless America!” The message had to be deleted and reuploaded multiple times due to typos and formatting issues.

Right-Wing Echoes and Baseless Claims

Earlier that day, Trump reposted a message from far-right commentator Rogan O’Handley, who falsely claimed Democrats committed treason by stealing the 2020 election. Trump echoed the sentiment in another brief post: “Happy Memorial Day!”

Protests and Policy Backlash Mar the Weekend

The president’s remarks coincided with grassroots Memorial Day weekend protests in Mississippi and New York, where community organizations condemned the Trump administration’s “reckless actions.” “We are coming together to challenge the consequences this administration is having on our communities and our nation,” Mississippi organizers said in a statement.

Veterans Affairs Facing Deep Cuts

Adding to the weekend’s controversy, new reports revealed the Department of Veterans Affairs is facing major staffing reductions under Trump’s federal workforce cuts. The VA is expected to lose 83,000 jobs—17 percent of its staff—by August, raising serious concerns about the impact on veterans’ services.

Ceremony at Arlington Offers Brief Return to Tradition

Later in the day, Trump will take part in the official wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. Joined by Vice President JD Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, the president honored fallen service members with a salute as “Taps” played.
