The Met Gala has raised $31 million this year, the largest amount in the event’s 77-year history, organizers announced Monday. This year’s theme was, based on the spring exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” exploring 300 years of Black fashion and the cultural storytelling of Black dandyism.
Co-hosting the event alongside Anna Wintour was Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams, while honorary chair LeBron James revealed he skipped the festivities due to a knee injury he sustained at the end of the Lakers’ season.
