A recent poll by the University of Texas at San Antonio’s Center for Public Opinion Research (CPOR) indicates that Rolando Pablos has experienced a notable increase in voter support ahead of the May 3 mayoral election. However, he is not currently leading the race.
Key Findings from the April 7–9 CPOR Poll:
- Gina Ortiz Jones: Leads with 12.8% support, up from 9.3% in February.
- John Courage: Holds 7.1%, slightly down from 7.9%.
- Beto Altamirano: Increased to 6.6% from 3.6%.
- Rolando Pablos: Rose to 5.0%, a significant jump from less than 1% in February.
- Other Candidates: Manny Pelaez (5.0%), Melissa Cabello Havrda (4.4%), Adriana Rocha Garcia (3.7%), Clayton Perry (3.5%), and Tim Westley (3.2%) also garnered notable support.
- Undecided Voters: 30% remain undecided, down from 35.2% in February.
While Pablos’ surge is noteworthy, Gina Ortiz Jones maintains a clear lead. Given the crowded field of 27 candidates and a significant portion of undecided voters, the race remains fluid. If no candidate secures over 50% of the vote, a runoff between the top two candidates is anticipated.
