With rising healthcare costs and continued disparities in access, events like this are essential for ensuring more equitable health outcomes—especially for women, who continue to face systemic gaps in medical research, treatment, and prevention.
Why Women’s Health Deserves Focus This Month and Beyond
For decades, women’s unique health needs have been overlooked or underserved. According to AAMC, until 1993 women were often excluded from clinical trials, leading to a significant knowledge gap in how medications, devices, and treatments affect women differently than men.
Even today, medical research often defaults to male subjects, sometimes avoiding female participants—even in animal studies—due to perceived complexity. This has impacted everything from how we understand heart disease in women to how health technology is designed and used. Women’s health is not a niche issue—it’s a public health priority.
Join the Movement for Better Wellness
The Wellness Promotion at St. Philip’s College is step forward in addressing these health disparities—bringing essential care directly to underserved communities and creating a space where all women, especially those most often overlooked, can prioritize their health in a safe and supportive environment.
As we reflect on the progress and perseverance of women throughout history this March, promoting health equity is one of the most meaningful ways to honor that legacy. Whether you’re seeking preventive care, resources, or simply want to enjoy a day of fitness and community, this event is a meaningful way to celebrate Women’s History Month while also supporting the community.
