Local Pet Owners Urged To Prepare Now For Freezing Temps

(COSA News Release) – A strong cold front is expected to move into San Antonio this evening, prompting the need for local pet owners to prepare protections for their animals ahead of the cold. Freezing conditions are forecast through the end of the week, creating dangerous conditions for pets left outside.

San Antonio Animal Care Services urges residents to bring outdoor pets indoors, either into the home or a safe, enclosed area such as a laundry room or garage with food, water, and blankets. Animal Care Officers will be on patrol throughout the week, responding to weather-related animal welfare concerns. Violators of the City’s animal care ordinance could face pet impoundment, citations, fines, and even jail time for repeat offenses.

Residents are encouraged to report possible animal ordinance violations to the City’s Customer Service representatives by calling 3-1-1, 210-207-6000, or by using the 3-1-1 mobile app.
