Canned Tuna Sold at Costco, Trader Joe’s and More Recalled—Here’s What to Know

A recall was just announced on multiple brands of canned tuna sold at Costco, Kroger, Publix, Trader Joe’s, Walmart, H-E-B and more, according to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).1 This is due to the cans posing a botulism risk.

Below is a list of the brands of tuna impacted by this recall, including the states that the recalled tuna were sold in. The can codes can be found printed on the bottom of the recalled cans.

Check the canned tuna in your pantry, and if you have any of the recalled products listed above, dispose of it immediately or return to your place of purchase for a refund. These brands of tuna are being recalled due to a manufacturing defect that may compromise the products’ seal. This can lead to bacteria like Clostridium botulinum to enter and grow inside of the can, which can cause foodborne illness.2

If you are experiencing symptoms of botulism after eating the recalled canned tuna—like bloating, constipation, muscle weakness, double vision, dizziness, trouble speaking or swallowing and difficulty breathing—seek medical attention immediately. For questions about this recall, contact Tri-Union Seafoods at support@thaiunionhelp.zendesk.com or by calling their toll-free line at 833-374-0171, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST.
