Palo Alto College is proud to announce the return of its free 8-week English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for Spring 2025. This initiative continues the college’s commitment to supporting the personal and professional growth of individuals seeking to improve their English skills. The registration period opens January 27, 2025, and closes February 13, 2025, with classes running from March 24 through May 15, 2025.
Supporting an Underserved Population
Palo Alto College serves a predominantly Latino and underserved community, and its ESL program is tailored to meet the unique needs of individuals who want to build confidence and proficiency in English. Classes are available for learners at all levels, from beginner to advanced. Upon registration, each student will be assessed to determine their current English proficiency and placed in one of four levels: basic (Level 1), Level 2, Level 3, or Level 4.
Comprehensive Language Learning
The ESL program focuses on developing critical skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, while also incorporating grammar and vocabulary lessons. This structured, standards-based curriculum ensures steady progress at every level. Students can expect engaging activities, self-assessments, and tests to help reinforce their learning and track improvement.
Instructor Stephanie Rodriguez emphasized the life-changing impact of the program:

It’s about giving someone the tools to connect with their community, to navigate opportunities, and to express their dreams.
