Explore San Antonio’s Black History with the MLK Special Bus Tour

Dive into the rich Black history of San Antonio with a special focus on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Join Melaneyes Media on Saturday, January 25, 2025, for an unforgettable bus tour highlighting the city’s historic landmarks tied to the civil rights movement. Tours will be held at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., offering an in-depth look at Dr. King’s impact and the cultural significance of key locations.

The journey begins at the Carver Branch Library (3350 E. Commerce St.), where participants will board a modern 56-passenger charter bus. The tour includes stops at pivotal sites such as MLK Park, the San Antonio MLK March Route, and the Carver Community Cultural Center. As we travel through the city, you’ll learn about the historical and cultural importance of these locations, particularly in light of ongoing gentrification and the preservation of Black heritage in San Antonio’s East Side.

Melaneyes Media, creators of the acclaimed documentary Walk on the River: A Black History of the Alamo City, brings this experience to life, ensuring the stories of our past continue to inspire future generations. Learn more about the film at walkontheriver.com.
