38th Annual MLK Citywide Interfaith Service

Everyone is welcome at this annual service, which includes representation from at least 9 different religious groups who will join together in honor of the ideals of Martin Luther King Jr. The Rector of St. Mark’s, Rev. Beth Knowlton, will open the service.

Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller will offer the invocation, and the Nelson Armstrong Choir will lead the music. Dancers from the Arathi School of Indian Dance will perform as will the “Chosen Vessel” Praise dancers from the New Beginnings International House of Worship. Allee Wallace will sing one of his gospel songs; there will be a Baha’i Prayer for America, a Muslim prayer for humanity with Mehmet Oguz and a song for peace by Cantor Seth Ettinger.

The Raindrop Music Ensemble will perform at the reception following the service. The feature speaker will be Dr. Melva K. Wallace, CEO and President of Huston-Tillotson University in Austin.
