Times Are Certainly Changing

Trump’s Cabinet and Agency Nominations Signal Stricter Policies, Pardons, and No Accountability

As the calendar continues to move forward towards the beginning of 2025, the president-elect continues with nominating certain of his followers to Cabinet positions and others to head vital federal agencies.

The former president, recently floated the idea of “pardoning the January 6 individuals”. As many of them have been tried, convicted, and sentenced for various crimes which were committed when that group stormed the U. S. Capital, on Jan 6, 2021. He has since stated that members of the House Select Committee should also be prosecuted.

Kash Patel, who’s the nominee for the office of the Attorney General, has said there should be prosecutions of anyone in Congress who opposed Trump.

The nominee for the position of Director of National Intelligence – former Democratic representative – Tulsi Gabbard, has had questions raised regarding her communications with Putin and Syria.

In the past week, the president elect nominated Rodney Scott, a former Border Patrol Chief, who’s been a vocal supporter of tougher enforcement measures as Customs and Border Patrol Commissioner.

For Acting Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Trump announced he had selected Caleb Vitello, a career ICE official with more than 23 years of experience in the agency. Vitello will join an immigration team that includes South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem as Secretary of Homeland Security, former Acting ICE Director Tom Homan as Border Czar, and immigration hardliner Stephen Miller as Deputy Chief of Staff.

The foregoing nominations reflect a stricter approach to immigration and possibly deportation.

Since the results of the 2024 presidential election, Trump has been faced with the question of what to do about the Federal Budget.
With that in mind, he has tapped two huge billionaire supporters and desires that they address the cutting 2 trillion dollars, from the federal Budget.

The agency these appointees will work under has been named the Department of Government Efficiency.

The two billionaires are Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. Their suggested cuts will cut a big hole in America’s retirement safety net, leaving the unanswered question: Who’s going to pay for it?”

These billionaires are not accountable to the American people, but Senators are—and they must be reminded of this for future reference.

Since Congress is responsible for the budget, it is crucial for voters to continually remind their elected officials of the needs and priorities of the citizens they represent.
