Colman Domingo Brings “The Madness” on Thanskgiving Day

Colman Domingo Returns to his Hometown to Star in Soon-to-be-Released Thriller Limited Series “The Madness”

It has already been a very successful couple of years for the highly lauded actor Colman Domingo, with his 2023 Netflix film “Rustin” and the recent indie film “Sing Sing,” which have both received numerous accolades and earned him a lead-actor Oscar nomination for the first, with talks about a potential nomination for the latter. As an actor who not long ago was restricted to performing supporting roles, Domingo is now building off the momentum of his success as a leading man, with his soon-to-be hit show, “The Madness.”

Framed For the Killing of a Notorious White Supremacist

On November 28th, which also happens to be the actor’s 55th birthday, Domingo’s latest project “The Madness” will debut on Netflix. The eight-episode murder mystery limited series – described as a “suspenseful, post-truth thriller” – was filmed in the actor’s hometown of Philadelphia, and follows Domingo as he portrays a CNN media expert who finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time and is being framed for the killing of a notorious white-supremacist – which figures as part of a larger, national conspiracy.

His Recent Success From An Outsider’s Perspective

Though his recent success may seem sudden from an outsider’s perspective, Domingo has decades of acting experience and has made many great achievements as a multihyphenate – though his path certainly hasn’t been easy. It’s been a long road for the Oscar-nominee to get to where he is now, and just under 10 years ago he was ready to leave the business because he thought he might never get his ‘big break.’

At The Advice of His Mother

Domingo began acting on a whim while in college and losing interest in his journalism studies (back then he wanted to become a reporter in war-torn countries). He took an elective acting class at the advice of his mother, and when his teacher suggested that he may have a future onstage, it was also Domingo’s mother who recommended that he drop out of school to pursue this as a possibility. Thus began the aspiring movie star’s tumultuous journey into the world of acting, a journey that included a brief stint working as an onstage clown that eventually led to a successful stretch performing Shakespeare plays in San Francisco’s theater scene in the 90s.

An Offer-Only Actor

Domingo then transitioned to doing TV and movies, and spent years trying to break into that side of the acting world. His turning point came in 2014 when, after receiving countless rejections, he decided to quit acting. He then reevaluated, choosing to keep trying his hand at the craft in hopes that something would land – and his persistence paid off. He slowly started receiving roles in various A-list productions (including “Fear the Walking Dead” and “If Beale Street Could Talk”), eventually even becoming an offer-only actor. Domingo is now fully established in the industry as a leading man, and is carving a legacy for himself as one of the most eminent stars of this generation.

“The Madness” will be available exclusively on Netflix beginning Thanksgiving Day.
