Celebrate 125 Years of Brackenridge Park with Big Brack Bash!

Brackenridge Park Turns 125! Come Celebrate at the Big Brack Bash!

San Antonio’s beloved Brackenridge Park is turning 125, and the Brackenridge Park Conservancy is throwing a Big Brack Bash to celebrate! On Saturday, November 16, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., the park invites the entire city to join in a day of festivities that honor both its rich history and vibrant present. This free event will be packed with activities for all ages, combining nostalgia with new experiences that highlight Brackenridge’s role in San Antonio’s past, present, and future.

A Day of Fun and Heritage

Visitors can immerse themselves in the charm of Brackenridge Park with a vintage car show from Los Viejitos, donkey visits, and scenic rides through the park’s low-water crossing. Live music from acclaimed musician Santiago Jimenez, Jr. will keep the energy high as families, history lovers, and locals gather to celebrate. Food trucks will be on-site, offering delicious treats to savor, and interactive activities are planned to engage everyone in the park’s unique story.

Historical Highlights and Hands-On Experiences

This event brings history to life. At the UTSA Center for Archaeological Research booth, visitors can learn about the park’s ancient roots, exploring artifacts and meeting with archaeologists who will share stories of the land’s 12,000-year history. Meanwhile, the Office of Historic Preservation will invite guests to add their own memories to the park’s archives by sharing personal photos and stories—capturing today’s memories for future generations.

Presenting sponsor H-E-B will make the day even sweeter by providing free ice cream and snacks. Families won’t want to miss a visit with H-E-B Buddy and a stop by the photo booth to snap a keepsake from the celebration. Thanks to H-E-B and media sponsor 78209 magazine, this special anniversary event will be one to remember.

A Legacy That Endures

Founded in 1899 by George W. Brackenridge, who donated 199 acres, Brackenridge Park has grown to over 343 acres and stands as a cultural landmark along the San Antonio River. Beyond its beauty, the park is a living testament to the region’s history and a gathering place that connects generations.

The Big Brack Bash is an open invitation to celebrate this San Antonio treasure. Join the festivities at 531 Brackenridge Way, near Lambert Beach Softball Field, and experience the legacy of Brackenridge Park firsthand.
