Voters Make Turnout Matter As Early Voting Begins

It’s Been Previously Noted That “The Past is Prologue”, Which Refers to a Prediction of What Happens in the Near Future

In the first week, of early voting here in Bexar County, voter turnout gave observers a clear picture of just how important the general election is, to a huge cross section of the electorate.

On Monday, October 21st, the number of voters cast, in Bexar County, totaled 46,820, which exceeded the votes cast, for that period, during the 2022 midterms. Early voting numbers statewide, per the Secretary of State’s office, shows 881,078 people cast votes on the first day of early voting which was reported as an increase of 16.7%, over the number of votes cast, in 2020. Overall, votes are being cast – statewide at a slower pace – 15.1 %, in 2024 compared to 15.7%, during the general election of 2020.

According to Bexar County Elections Administrator Jacque Callanen, as of 11:00 p.m on Thursday October 24th, 168,606 voters had cast their ballots with 25,482 being cast in that day. We do know that early voting locations were open on both Saturday and Sunday this past weekend as well. In Bexar County it’s also of significant importance that this year the early voting period is two weeks in length whereas in 2020 the length was three weeks due to the pandemic.

It does appear that what’s going to be decided, by voters, is tremendously important to voters all across the spectrum. A number of political pundits have expressed that there “are two specific groups that will be deciding” this election, which we have previously discussed.

The two are young people – the Gen X followers and senior citizens.

What some turnout numbers do show from this past week are the numbers of votes cast at some of the college campuses here in Bexar County. There’s going to be more the decipher, in our next foray into voting patterns and results.

What will it take, to make that positive impact on improving the quality of life, in all of our communities?

It “takes a village to raise a child”, it’s going to take the village’s commitment, to raise our expectations and see the end results become a reality!
