Ted Cruz Dodges Questions on Texas Abortion Ban with No Exceptions

In a recent interview with KHOU 11, Texas Senator Ted Cruz faced repeated questioning over his stance on Texas’s abortion ban, which includes no exceptions for cases of rape or incest. Interviewer Len Cannon pressed Cruz directly on whether he supports this aspect of the law, but Cruz deflected, stating it is ultimately a matter “for the state legislature to decide.” When asked to clarify his personal views, Cruz repeated, “I think it is up to the voters of Texas to decide.”

Cannon continued to push, asking, “What do you think?” Cruz, avoiding a direct answer, replied, “I recognize you don’t like that answer, but that’s my answer.” The exchange ended abruptly when a Cruz staffer cut off the interview.

Cruz’s repeated deflections come as his stance on reproductive rights faces heightened scrutiny, particularly around Texas’s strict abortion ban. The refusal to address specific exceptions in the law highlights ongoing tensions as Cruz navigates public opinion on reproductive issues while sidestepping questions about his personal stance.

Everywhere Ted Cruz goes he’s getting pressed about his record of opposing reproductive freedom, and every time he tries to hide.
