San Antonio will celebrate Veterans Day early this year with its annual parade on Saturday, November 9, 2024. The parade will begin at 12 noon at Milam Park and travel down historic Houston Street, a fitting tribute through the heart of the city.
Veterans Day, held each year on November 11, honors the men and women who have served in the U.S. military. Originally known as Armistice Day to mark the end of World War I, the holiday has evolved to recognize all American veterans who have sacrificed to protect our nation’s freedoms.
San Antonio, known as “Military City, USA,” is home to all branches of the armed forces and has a significant community of veterans and active-duty service members. Military retirees also make up a huge part of our community, contributing personally, professionally, and neighborly. Their presence enriches the city’s culture, strengthens local businesses, and builds the city’s legacy of service and patriotism.
This parade will allow residents and visitors alike to honor and celebrate the dedicated individuals who have served our country, reminding us of the invaluable contributions veterans bring to our daily lives in San Antonio.
