No. 5 Georgia knocks off No. 1 Texas 30-15

Fifth-ranked Georgia went on to beatNo. 1 Texas 30-15 on Saturday Night

Georgia running back, Trevor Etienne powered No. 5 Georgia to a 30-15 victory over top-ranked Texas, scoring three touchdowns in a decisive win Saturday night. The Bulldogs capitalized on two key takeaways by cornerback Daylen Everette, setting the stage for Etienne’s first two scores.

Etienne Seals the Win Amid Controversy

Etienne’s final touchdown came on a 1-yard run on fourth down with 12:04 left. Moments before, Texas fans erupted in frustration, throwing bottles and trash onto the field after a controversial pass interference call was overturned, setting up a Longhorns touchdown.

“These guys are so resilient,” Georgia coach Kirby Smart said. “They tried to rob us with calls, but our players never quit.”

Georgia Back on Track After Early Loss

Georgia (6-1, 4-1 SEC) extended its winning streak to three games following a tough loss to Alabama. The Bulldogs, who started the season as the No. 1 team, never trailed in their first trip to Austin since 1958, handing Texas (6-1) its first defeat of the season.

Historic Loss for Texas at Home

The 15-point loss was the largest home defeat for a No. 1 team since Notre Dame’s 31-16 win over Pittsburgh in 1982. Texas coach Steve Sarkisian remained hopeful: “We didn’t play our best tonight, but we were still competitive. Hopefully, we get another shot at them.”

Georgia’s win solidifies its spot among the nation’s elite, while Texas aims to regroup after its first stumble of the season.
