“Recipe for Life” Youth Intervention Program by CHEF MILAS

Chef Milas Williams and WORLD LOLEI Inc partners with Bexar County Juvenile Probation Department giving at risk youth the opportunity to learn culinary skills.

Executive Chef Milas Williams of WORLD LOLEI Inc is set to begin this year’s “Recipe for Life” youth intervention program on June 14, 2024. Students in the program will be part of a 6 week culinary class that teaches the basics and advanced culinary skills. Chef Milas has partnered with the Bexar County Juvenile Probation Department, and students in the program are at risk teen volunteers in the Juvenile probation department. There is no fee for students to attend the program. Chef Milas has collaborated with various food service employers in Bexar County and upon their July 27th graduation from the program, students are guaranteed employment opportunities in the food service industry. Major sponsors include Chef Johnny Hernandez and the Kitchen Campus, and Ben E. Keith Distribution. When asked why he created the “Recipe for Life” program, Chef Milas said, “I wanted to create an environment where the kids can learn marketable skills and build self-esteem. See, I was one of those at risk kids so I know how important it is the give them something that will keep them off the streets and hopefully out of the adult system.”

Recipe For Life

The “Recipe for Life” skills course is not just a culinary class. It is an interactive experience that will enlighten and inspire. The 6 weeks program objective is to help teens overcome the prospect of becoming at risk in a more positive and ethical environment. The Recipe for Life program is intended to provide the youth with a chance to fight and to recalibrate their life’s compass. The class is instructed by Executive Chef Milas Williams alongside WORLD LOLEI Inc staff and partners. It is a part of their Elite Intervention Program division.
