Formerly Homeless Black Teen to Graduate as Valedictorian With 8.07 GPA

Jasmine Mazard-Larry, a high school valedictorian from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has defied the odds to achieve an impressive 8.07 grade point average (GPA) out of 4.0, despite losing her home in a fire.

Jasmine’s family lost everything in the fire, including their home and all of their belongings. Despite this setback, Jasmine remained focused on her studies and refused to let the tragedy define her.
According to Good Morning America, Jasmine also faced other challenges during her high school years, including financial difficulties and the loss of her father. Despite these obstacles, she continued to excel academically and was determined to achieve her goals.

In addition to her academic achievements, Jasmine was also involved in extracurricular activities, such as playing in the marching band and volunteering in her community. She plans to attend Louisiana State University in the fall to study biochemistry.

Jasmine’s hard work and resilience have paid off, and she is proud to be the valedictorian of her graduating class. She hopes that her story will inspire others to persevere in the face of adversity and to never give up on their dreams.
