Hello SAISD Parents,
This week I hope that everyone enjoys their Thanksgiving holiday. I know that the cost of a “traditional turkey or ham” is expensive this year. But that’s okay because this feast is about being with your family and friends. This holiday was created by those who arrived off the Mayflower as they landed on Native lands. If historians can hide the true story about what happened as the Pilgrims made the Indians concede to colonialism and Christianity, we too, can change how we celebrate Thanksgiving. We don’t need that “traditional meal.” Prepare a meal you all can enjoy or have a potluck. The important thing to remember is that we were all sitting around the table with family and friends because some of us couldn’t gather when we were going through the pandemic.
I hope that all of you have a lovely time with those you love. Parents, let’s try to have some fun this week and let our children take a break from their studies. Let me say that in the next couple of weeks, we will have many issues to go over. So, today as I put my educational debates aside, I will be back with more updates. I pray that everyone has a good time and remind our children that having fun is okay. To all my families, teachers, and staff, eat, laugh, watch football and Christmas movies.
Lastly, remember to write down your family recipes so future generations will be able to make them at their tables. After all, these are a part of our family’s histories.
