CITY HALL’S HOLIDAY GARDEN BEDS WILL HELP SPIKE DOPAMINE- A FEEL GOOD HORMONE

City Hall’s ‘Clean and Green Team’s’ holiday garden beds at City Hall and Spanish Governor’s Palace are just perfect

Last week the San Antonio City of Parks and Recreation gave a shout out to the Clean and Green Team tweeting: “Special shout out to our Clean and Green team for their spectacular holiday garden beds at City Hall and Spanish Governor’s Palace! Well done!”

Christmas decorations stir up feelings of pure joy and can literally modify some happy hormones in your body. “It create[s] that neurological shift that can produce happiness,” said psychologist Deborah Serani. “Christmas decorating will spike dopamine, a feel-good hormone.”  The Clean and Green team has made a great holiday backdrop to take photos during the holiday season in front of city hall.

One woman, who for the first time ever put up decorations the day after Halloween, told Cleveland.com, “There has been so much doom and gloom and so much stress and misinformation and absolute torture in 2020 that I said, ‘My lights are going up, and they’re going on,’ because I need that. We all need that. I wanted to make myself happy and to maybe bring a bit of cheer and pretty lights to somebody else.”

The Travis park ice skating rink, Botanical Gardens Path of Lights, Incarnate Words amazing annual display of tree lights not to mention our coveted riverwalk that is oozing holiday spirit with all the lights hanging from trees shows how much love is in this city of San Antonio.  It shows how much we all love a lot of the same things- happiness, joy and hope.

The City of San Antonio’s City Hall holiday flowers may remind us of the White House’s rose garden.  Although it is not year round, it is a symbol of an intimate and more casual side of City Hall and the joys it shares with its neighbors of this wonderful city during the holidays.
