500 Youth Will Benefit from Summer Golf Partnership of Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio

Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio (BGCSA) has partnered with First Tee – Greater San Antonio to launch the 2024 FOREward Together Summer Golf & Life Skills Program. This collaboration will engage youth from four BGCSA campuses in a six-week summer program, featuring weekly life skills sessions at Clubhouses and field trips to the First Tee Learning Center for golf instruction.

Supported by Frost Bank, H-E-B, H-E-B Tournament of Champions, and the Nancy Smith Hurd Foundation, this initiative aims to benefit 500 youth. Their funding ensures the success of the summer camp and ongoing life skills and golf programs at BGCSA, extending the impact beyond the Clubs.

Ada Saenz, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio, expressed excitement about the partnership. “Most Club kids have never played golf, so this will be their introduction to the sport. Golf can open doors to healthy habits, lasting friendships, competitive play, and future career opportunities. We are very grateful to our sponsors for their support.”

Carrie Kimbell, CEO of First Tee – Greater San Antonio, highlighted the comprehensive nature of the program. “This partnership leverages the strengths of both organizations to provide comprehensive youth development. By integrating golf into the Boys & Girls Clubs’ activities, First Tee aims to teach life skills and values through the game of golf, ensuring a broader reach and greater inclusivity.”

This partnership marks a significant investment in San Antonio’s youth, promising lasting benefits for participants and the community.
