June 2023 Sees a Rise to 3.9 Percent Unemployment in San Antonio – New Braunfels Metropolitan Area

According to reports released by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), Workforce Solutions Alamo (WSA), the prominent workforce board in the Alamo Region, has announced that the unadjusted unemployment rate for the eight-county San Antonio-New Braunfels Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) increased to 3.9 percent in June 2023. This figure marks a rise from the 3.8 percent rate recorded in May 2023.

In a news release last Friday, WSA stated, “The 3.9 percent unemployment rate represents 49,520 people seeking meaningful employment out of a total labor force of 1,284,074 people. The region’s June 2023 unemployment rate is lower than the state’s unadjusted (actual) rate of 4.2 percent.”
