Gabby Douglas Returns the Focus to the Dream

This year’s celebration also features a headline guest who embodies perseverance in motion. Gabby Douglas, the Olympic gold medalist and trailblazing gymnast, will serve as keynote speaker for the 2026 MLK Celebration.

Douglas made history in 2012 as the first Black woman to win the Olympic all-around title, redefining what excellence looked like on the world stage. Her appearance includes a special Q&A, with the public invited to submit questions ahead of time.

Her presence is more than ceremonial. Douglas represents discipline, resilience, and the long arc between dreams and achievement, themes Dr. King spoke about often and lived relentlessly.

How to Get Involved

Community members can:

  • Submit questions for Gabby Douglas
  • Volunteer to support march operations and events
  • Register organizations to march or host information tables
