Lamara, a 10-year-old African American girl from Lancaster, Texas, exudes a bright personality and charm. Despite spending seven years in foster care, she dreams of finding a family to adopt her, holding onto hope for the day she can call a family her own.
Her deepest desire is straightforward: she wants a family that will provide her with the attention and love she longs for. “I just want somebody to adopt me,” she softly shared in an interview with WFAA.
Lamara loves exploring new activities. Whether it’s shopping, making slime, or playing with toys, she finds joy in simple pleasures. She also enjoys coloring, painting, watching TV, and even cooking on her own.
Her curiosity about the world around her is boundless. “How do volcanoes erupt? I’ll ask my teacher,” she pondered aloud.
At Lancaster Music School, Lamara discovered a new avenue for self-expression through music. “I’m fun to play with!” she exclaimed.
Additionally, Lamara is excited about starting 5th grade. “I’m older than all the kids,” she said with a smile.
She is particularly enthusiastic about her favorite subjects, Math and Science, and is eager to learn about animals and their life cycles. She dreams of becoming a Kindergarten Math teacher, planning to go by the name Ms. Mahogany, after her middle name which she finds beautiful.
Despite the challenges of being in and out of foster care for seven years, Lamara remains cheerful and confident. Her court-appointed special advocate, Kathleen Cain, remarked, “She makes friends so easily. I’ve seen her in so many new schools and new situations, and she comes out with a new friend and she sees the positive in everything.”
Cain believes it’s time for this wonderful child to have a loving family of her own.
