The Former Radio City Rockette Was Crowned Miss America 2027 in West Palm Beach, Becoming the 99th Woman to Hold the National Title
Texas is once again home to the Miss America crown.
Regan Hutsell, representing Texas, was crowned Miss America 2027 on Sunday, Sept. 6, during the national competition in West Palm Beach, Florida. Her victory makes her the 99th woman to hold one of the country’s longest-running pageant titles.
Delegates representing all 50 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands competed for the crown. Hutsell also received scholarship money as part of her winnings.
Miss Louisiana Shelby Bordelon finished as first runner-up, while Miss Illinois Kate Dimmett was named second runner-up.

Hutsell comes to the national title with an extensive performance background. She is a former Radio City Rockette and has also danced with the Birmingham Royal Ballet.
Outgoing Miss America Cassie Donegan placed the crown on Hutsell, officially ending her year as titleholder. Donegan, who represented New York, spent her reign traveling for speaking engagements, philanthropic efforts and performances, including singing the national anthem at the Daytona 500.

Hutsell now takes on that national schedule as Miss America approaches another milestone. The organization is expected to crown its 100th titleholder next year.
Her new duties began almost immediately.
Within hours of winning, Hutsell traveled to New York for her first appearance on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” where she described the victory as a “surreal moment” after getting only a few hours of sleep.
“As Miss America, I look forward to giving as much hope to as many people as possible, to encourage and inspire people that they can go for their dreams, that they can dare to do big things and actually achieve them,” Hutsell said.
Her victory keeps Texas in the national pageant spotlight after Annette Addo-Yobo, the Ghanaian American who represented Texas, finished as first runner-up in the Miss America competition in 2025.
