Professional Misconduct Case Filed Against Nolan Wells’ Mother Dismissed

Nolan Wells’ Mother Says the Mississippi Board of Nursing Closed an Anonymous Professional Misconduct Complaint Filed Against Her

The professional misconduct case involving Christine Wells Wonsley, the mother of Nolan Wells, has been closed, according to Wonsley, who says the complaint added more pain to an already devastating period for her family.

Wonsley announced the development Wednesday in a Facebook post, saying she remains committed to her nursing career and the patients she serves.

“I love my job, and I love my patients,” Wonsley wrote. “NOLAN’S CASE IS STILL ONGOING.. Again, the question is: WHAT HAPPENED TO NOLAN?”

The Mississippi Board of Nursing accepts anonymous complaints and investigates allegations involving licensed nurses. The Board’s official procedures state that nurses under review are given an opportunity to respond before investigators determine whether a violation occurred.

The Board has not publicly released details about the allegations against Wonsley or independently announced the case’s closure.

Ben Crump Calls Complaint an Attempt at Intimidation

Before Wonsley announced that the matter had been closed, civil rights attorney Ben Crump described the anonymous complaint as an effort to intimidate her while she continues demanding answers about her son’s death.

“We will not let it stand,” Crump said in a statement. “Christine served her patients for years without a single complaint to the board. The only thing that changed is that she started asking questions.”

Crump said the complaint was filed after Wonsley began publicly questioning what happened to Nolan and took leave from work to prepare for his funeral.

“No family should have to fight this battle while burying their child,” Crump said. “We will keep demanding the facts until Christine knows how her son died.”

The nursing complaint is the latest incident Wonsley has faced since her son’s death. Supporters previously said her professional profile had been targeted with negative reviews, while Wonsley has also reported receiving anonymous hate mail.

Questions Remain About Nolan Wells’ Death

Nolan Wells was last seen July 4 during a gathering on Horn Island, Mississippi. His body was discovered July 6, two days after he disappeared.

His cause and manner of death remain unconfirmed publicly.

An autopsy performed by the Mississippi medical examiner has not been released to the public. A separate independent examination commissioned by the family with assistance from Colin Kaepernick produced inconclusive findings, according to the family and its attorneys.

Wonsley has continued pursuing information about her son’s final hours. She has sought court approval to obtain records connected to Nolan’s Facebook, Instagram and TikTok accounts as the family conducts a parallel investigation with Crump’s legal team.

The family has repeatedly said it will continue pressing for evidence and transparency rather than relying on speculation surrounding the case.
