San Antonio Neighborhoods Will Come Together Oct. 6 for National Night Out and San Antonio Neighbors Together Events Across the City
San Antonio neighborhoods will come together Oct. 6 for National Night Out and San Antonio Neighbors Together events across the city.
San Antonio neighborhoods will come together Tuesday, Oct. 6, for National Night Out, locally known as San Antonio Neighbors Together, with block parties, family activities and community gatherings planned across the city.
While much of the country observes National Night Out in August, Texas communities celebrate in October, when temperatures are generally more favorable for outdoor gatherings.
San Antonio Neighbors Together is coordinated by the San Antonio Police Department and is designed to strengthen relationships between residents, neighbors, police and city departments. Gatherings can range from large public celebrations to neighborhood block parties, cookouts and small meet-and-greets.
Here are some of the public events scheduled around San Antonio and the surrounding area:

More San Antonio Events
San Antonio Parks and Recreation Neighbors Together — 6–8 p.m. at participating community centers throughout San Antonio. The city is offering free family activities and snacks, and the events are open to all ages.
Additional neighborhood celebrations are also expected throughout San Antonio. Because many National Night Out gatherings are organized directly by neighborhood associations, churches, schools and individual communities, not every block party is publicly advertised.
Outside San Antonio
Kirby National Night Out — 5–8 p.m., Friendship Park, 5745 Binz-Engleman Road in Kirby. The free community celebration brings residents together with local police, first responders and city representatives.
Live Oak National Night Out — Oct. 6, 8001 Shin Oak Drive in Live Oak. The city-sponsored gathering gives residents an opportunity to meet police, first responders and community representatives.
Schertz National Night Out — Oct. 6 at registered neighborhood locations throughout Schertz. More than 30 neighborhoods are participating, with teams that include police representatives, city officials and staff visiting gatherings throughout the evening.
Residents who do not see their neighborhood listed should check with their neighborhood association or community organization. San Antonio Neighbors Together can be as simple as a few neighbors gathering outside or as large as a community-wide block party.
The goal remains the same: get neighbors outside, get them talking and build connections that last beyond one night.
