Keke Palmer Is Stepping Into the Host’s Chair for a Celebrity Edition of “The Voice,” With Queen Latifah Among the Stars Joining the Show as Coaches
NBC’s long-running singing competition will expand its franchise in 2027 with “The Voice: Celebrity,” a spinoff that will place already-famous performers behind the microphone.
The competition will feature actors, musicians, influencers, athletes, comedians and reality television personalities competing to become the show’s first celebrity champion.
Palmer confirmed the news in an Instagram video that played off the show’s familiar introduction. She delivered the phrase “This is ‘The Voice’” in several different tones, including flirty, disappointed, happy and sarcastic.
“That’s right, it’s true!” Palmer said. “I am hosting ‘The Voice.’ I’ll see you guys there.”
Queen Latifah, Joe Jonas and Riley Green Join as Coaches
The celebrity contestants have not yet been announced, but NBC has confirmed Queen Latifah, Joe Jonas and country singer Riley Green as the show’s lead coaches.
The coaches will help contestants prepare during a boot camp ahead of the blind auditions. They will also work with the celebrity singers inside a workroom, where teams will develop strategies before the battle rounds.
A new “VIP Room” will allow contestants to watch their competitors perform and offer their own reactions and commentary.
Latifah and Green are also scheduled to appear on the regular edition of “The Voice,” hosted by Carson Daly. The singing competition is set to begin its 30th season on Sept. 21.
Palmer Expands Her NBC and Peacock Presence
The hosting role adds another major NBC project to Palmer’s already-busy schedule.
She hosts the network’s revival of “Password,” alongside recurring celebrity player Jimmy Fallon. Palmer won the 2023 Emmy for Outstanding Host for a Game Show for her work on the program. She has earned two Emmy Awards overall.
Palmer also stars in Peacock’s original series “The ’Burbs” and hosts the “Baby, This Is Keke Palmer” podcast, which has attracted more than half a million subscribers.
“The Voice: Celebrity” arrives after 15 years and 30 seasons of the original competition, offering a new twist by asking established stars to prove whether their voices can earn a coach’s chair turn.
A premiere date and complete celebrity lineup are expected to be announced later.
