Chef Boots Brings Harlem Biscuit Company Biscuits Nationwide As Biscuit Lovers Can Savor His Winning Dish From “Beat Bobby Flay” Season 38
Celebrity chef Melvin “Boots” Johnson, founder of Harlem Biscuit Company, is expanding his award winning biscuits beyond New York City with a new nationwide shipping launch.
The Harlem based restaurant, located at 2308 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd., is now shipping Chef Boots’ signature frozen buttermilk biscuits across the country. The launch marks a major step for the chef, whose biscuit business began as a pandemic era garage pivot before growing into a storefront and community staple in Harlem.
Johnson, a California native with deep Southern roots, said the recipes are tied directly to his family history and his grandmother’s influence in the kitchen.
“My grandmother’s cooking is the reason I fell in love with food, and these biscuits are her legacy. Being able to share them with the rest of the country, not just with the folks we deliver to in New York City or who walk through our doors in Harlem, is something I’ve been dreaming about for years. I want everyone to know what it feels like to eat a warm biscuit fresh out of the oven, made with love,” Johnson said.
Beat Bobby Flay Winning Recipe Available Online
The nationwide launch comes after Johnson’s 2025 appearance on Season 38 of “Beat Bobby Flay.” In Episode 8, titled “Risk It For Biscuit,” Johnson defeated Bobby Flay with his chive cheddar biscuit served with chicken sausage gravy.
The win carried extra meaning for Johnson, who worked under Flay two decades earlier at Mesa Grill New York. The winning dish is now one of the biscuit options available for home delivery in a frozen six pack.
Customers can order three frozen six pack options:
Classic Buttermilk Biscuits: Southern grandmother inspired buttermilk biscuits, $25
Chive Cheddar Biscuits: a bold, cheesy fan favorite, $25
Chive Cheddar Biscuits with Chicken Sausage Gravy: the “Beat Bobby Flay” winning recipe, $30
All orders are shipped in vacuum sealed packaging and include simple 20 minute baking instructions.
A Harlem Restaurant Rooted In Southern Cooking
Harlem Biscuit Company opened in 2020 and quickly became known for handcrafted buttermilk biscuits, biscuit sandwiches, cheese grits, slaw, spreads and bold menu items such as the Langston.

The restaurant serves breakfast and lunch daily from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is also available for catering and private events. With nationwide shipping now available, Johnson said the goal is to bring Southern food that feels like home to more kitchens across the country.
Johnson’s culinary career spans both coasts and several national food competitions. He is also the founder of B&B Kitchen in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. His television appearances include “Chopped,” “Cutthroat Kitchen,” “Late Night Chef,” “Man vs Child” and “Beat Bobby Flay.” In 2018, he was crowned “Chopped” Grill Master Champion.
