Pennsylvania Burger King Worker Gains International Support After Her ‘Free Palestine’ Remark Led To Her Firing And Inspired A Mural In Gaza
A Pennsylvania Burger King worker who was fired after telling a customer “Free Palestine” is now being honored thousands of miles away with a mural painted in Gaza.
Arianna Hamilton worked at a Burger King in Breinigsville, Pennsylvania, before a customer interaction involving Israeli-American musician Rami Feinstein went viral earlier this month.
According to accounts of the exchange, Feinstein initially told Hamilton he was from New Jersey before later identifying himself as Israeli. Hamilton responded, “Free Palestine.”
Burger King subsequently confirmed that Hamilton had been fired.
Hamilton Defends ‘Free Palestine’ Remark
Following her termination, Hamilton defended her comment in a video, saying she was exercising her right to free speech and did not intend to discriminate against or promote hatred toward anyone.
Hamilton said her statement was meant to draw attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
She later launched a GoFundMe campaign titled “Support Arianna After Job Loss for Free Speech,” initially setting a $140,000 goal to help cover rent, groceries, utilities and other living expenses while she searched for another job.
The response quickly surpassed that amount.
By Friday, the fundraiser had collected more than $240,000 from thousands of donors, with its goal later increased to $250,000. Hamilton has said any money remaining after her basic expenses are covered will be donated to Palestinian families.
Gaza Artists Paint Mural in Hamilton’s Honor
Support for Hamilton has now extended beyond the United States.
Artists in Gaza painted a mural showing Hamilton wearing her Burger King uniform and headset. The artwork also includes the words “Free Palestine” and a crossed-out Burger King logo.
Photos and videos of the mural have circulated online, with supporters describing the artwork as a show of solidarity with Hamilton and her stance on Palestinians.
The controversy surrounding her firing has also produced sharply divided reactions.
Supporters have praised Hamilton for speaking publicly about Gaza and have rallied behind her fundraiser. Critics, meanwhile, have argued that her remark was inappropriate while interacting with a customer and questioned the amount of financial support she has received after losing her job.
Hamilton has not publicly announced where she plans to work next. Burger King has not issued additional public comments beyond confirming her termination.
