Former OnlyFans Model Courtney Clenney Was Sentenced to Six Years in Prison After Pleading Guilty to Manslaughter in the 2022 Stabbing Death of Christian “Toby” Obumseli
Former OnlyFans model Courtney Clenney has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the 2022 stabbing death of her boyfriend, Christian “Toby” Obumseli, bringing the high-profile Miami case to a close more than four years after his death.
Clenney, 30, entered the plea Monday, Aug. 10, in a Miami courtroom and was sentenced to six years in prison followed by five years of probation. Because she has already spent roughly four years in custody, she is expected to serve approximately two additional years behind bars.
Obumseli was fatally stabbed on April 3, 2022, one day after Clenney told police she wanted to end their relationship and wanted him to leave their home.
Clenney told investigators she acted in self-defense and claimed she threw a kitchen knife at Obumseli from about 10 feet away.
However, the medical examiner ruled Obumseli’s death a homicide and determined that the approximately three-inch downward stab wound to his shoulder was inconsistent with Clenney’s account.
Clenney was arrested about four months after the stabbing while staying at a rehabilitation facility in Hawaii. She was initially charged with second-degree murder.
Her defense team had planned to present evidence alleging that Obumseli had been abusive during the couple’s relationship. Obumseli’s family disputed that characterization and maintained that Christian was the victim of domestic violence.
The plea agreement described the couple’s relationship as “extremely tempestuous and combative” and acknowledged a history of domestic violence incidents.
Obumseli’s Family Approved Plea Agreement
Miami-Dade County State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle said prosecutors viewed the fatal stabbing as part of an escalating pattern of violence directed toward Obumseli.
The plea agreement was reached with the involvement and approval of Obumseli’s family.
His brother, Jeffrey Obumseli, previously spoke about the lasting impact of Christian’s death.
“Because of this, I won’t be able to grow old with my brother,” he told PEOPLE in 2024.
Before the killing, Clenney had developed a large social media following and worked as an OnlyFans creator and influencer.
She will serve the remainder of her six-year sentence before beginning five years of probation.
