Angel Reese 30-Point Double-Double Adds Another WNBA Record

Atlanta Dream Star Angel Reese Scored 30 Points In Just 25 Minutes, Extending Her Single-Season Double-Double Record As Several Teammates Also Reached Historic Milestones

Angel Reese added another chapter to her record-breaking season Thursday night, delivering 30 points and 10 rebounds in just 25 minutes as the Atlanta Dream overwhelmed the Connecticut Sun 103-59 at Gateway Center Arena.

Reese shot 11-of-14 from the field and finished one point shy of her career high. Her performance marked her 30th double-double of the season, extending the WNBA single-season record she had already claimed before the league’s nearly three-week break for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.

She also became the first player in WNBA history to record at least 30 points and 10 rebounds while playing 25 minutes or fewer. Reese reached the 30-point mark on a free throw with 5:38 remaining before grabbing her 10th rebound moments later.

The dominant outing came shortly after Reese returned from Germany, where she helped the United States win gold at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.

Reese Returns From Break And Picks Up Where She Left Off

Atlanta entered halftime ahead 45-35 before turning the game into a rout after the break.

The Dream opened the third quarter on a 13-2 run and eventually outscored Connecticut 31-11 in the period. Atlanta followed with a 27-13 fourth quarter to secure the 44-point victory.

The win improved Atlanta to 27-14 at the time as the team pushed toward the postseason.

Reese had already made WNBA history before the international break. In August, she set the league’s single-season double-double record and broke the single-season rebounding mark. Earlier this year, she also became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 1,000 career rebounds, doing so in just 79 games.

Earlier this season, Reese also made history with her record-setting run to 1,000 career rebounds, adding another milestone to her first year in Atlanta.

Rhyne Howard And Allisha Gray Join The Record Books

Reese was not the only Dream player making history.

Rhyne Howard knocked down her 129th 3-pointer of the season with 6:45 remaining in the fourth quarter, breaking the WNBA single-season record previously held by Sabrina Ionescu since 2023.

Howard finished with 10 points, eight assists, six rebounds and four steals.

Allisha Gray added 10 points and broke her own Atlanta franchise record for points in a season. Naz Hillmon also reached a milestone, knocking down the 100th 3-pointer of her career.

Connecticut dropped to 10-31 with the loss. Olivia Nelson-Ododa led the Sun with 13 points, all coming in the first half.

Reese has since continued adding to the numbers. In Atlanta’s next game Saturday against the Chicago Sky, she posted another double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds, giving her 31 for the season while becoming the first WNBA player to collect 500 rebounds in a single season. Atlanta won 106-81 and improved to 28-14.
