SAISD Cancels Special Board Meeting, Adjusts School Schedule Due to Severe Weather
The San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) has canceled its special-called Board of Trustees meeting scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, as severe weather continues to impact the San Antonio area.
District officials announced that all agenda items originally scheduled for the special meeting will instead be addressed during the regularly scheduled board meeting on Monday, July 20.
Early Closure and Delayed Start
In response to forecasts calling for continued rain and the potential for flooding, SAISD is also adjusting its operating schedule to help protect the safety of students and staff.
The district will close all campuses and facilities at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15. On Thursday, July 16, SAISD schools and offices will operate on a delayed start, opening at 10 a.m.
District leaders said the schedule changes were made out of an abundance of caution as heavy rainfall and localized flooding remain possible across the San Antonio area.
Officials Urge Caution
Families and employees are encouraged to monitor district communications for any additional weather-related updates. Residents are also urged to use caution while traveling and avoid flooded roadways as storms continue to move through the region.
