City of San Antonio Announces Juneteenth Holiday Schedule for City Services

City Hall and most municipal offices will be closed Friday, June 19, 2026, in observance of Juneteenth. Essential services, including police, fire and emergency medical services, will remain in operation.

The City of San Antonio released the following schedule for municipal services and facilities during the holiday.

Police, Fire & EMS

Personnel will remain on duty throughout the holiday.

General Services

  • 3-1-1 Call Center will operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. for urgent animal concerns and traffic signal malfunctions.
  • Animal Care Officers will be on duty.
  • Code Enforcement Officers will be available for emergency coverage.
  • Downtown visitors will receive an on-street parking meter holiday. (This does not apply to off-street City-operated garages and parking lots.)
  • City parks and trails will remain open.
  • Preseason pools will be open from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting.
  • Pre-K 4 SA South Center will remain open for summer programming, and Infant & Toddler Classrooms will be open. All other Pre-K 4 SA centers and corporate offices will be closed.

Waste Collection & Drop-Off Services

  • Garbage, recycling and organics collection will operate on a normal schedule throughout the week.
  • The Bitters Brush site at 1800 Wurzbach Parkway will be closed.
  • All four Bulky Waste Drop-Off Centers and the Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Center (Bitters, Frio City Road, Rigsby and Culebra locations) will be closed.

Residents are encouraged to plan ahead for any City-related business and services before the Juneteenth holiday. Normal operations are expected to resume Monday, June 22, 2026.
