Donors at Big Lou’s Pizza on June 6 Will Receive a 20-Inch One-Topping Pizza, Commemorative T-Shirt, Beer Glass and Insulated Tote Bag While Helping Save Lives
Big Lou’s Pizza and South Texas Blood & Tissue are once again joining forces for their annual blood drive, continuing a partnership that has helped save more than 10,000 lives throughout South Texas.
The blood drive will take place on JUNE 6 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Big Lou’s Pizza, 2048 S. W.W. White Road on San Antonio’s East Side.
Honoring “Pops” Lujan
The annual event is held in honor of Big Lou’s Pizza founder “Pops” Lujan, whose battle with aplastic anemia inspired the family’s commitment to blood donation.
Aplastic anemia is a rare but serious blood disorder that prevents the body from producing enough blood cells and platelets, often requiring multiple blood transfusions. Lujan’s experience highlighted the critical need for blood donors and led the family to begin hosting community blood drives.
Donors Receive Special Gifts
Community members who donate blood during the June 6 event will receive several thank-you gifts, including:
- A 20-inch one-topping pizza
- A Big Lou’s Pizza commemorative T-shirt
- A Stella Artois beer glass
- A South Texas Blood & Tissue insulated tote bag
Organizers say the event is designed to both reward donors and encourage participation in a cause that directly impacts local patients.
Every Donation Makes a Difference
According to South Texas Blood & Tissue, a single blood donation can help save up to three lives.
Blood donations are used daily to help trauma patients, cancer patients, surgery patients and others facing serious medical conditions.
