‘Toya’s Angels’ Scholarship Fund Awards Sam Houston Seniors

Montoya Rover Scholarship Fund ‘Toya’s Angels’ Honors Sam Houston Seniors for Third Straight Year

The Montoya Rover Scholarship Fund ‘Toya’s Angels’ visited Sam Houston High School last week to continue a growing tradition of investing in local students and honoring a legacy rooted in community.

Now in its third year of awarding scholarships to graduating seniors, the fund presented $1,000 scholarships to Newante Elkins, Cameron Sartin, and Jada Shuler to support their educational journeys beyond high school.

The scholarship was created in memory of Montoya Rover, whose impact continues to be felt through her family, friends, and the community she loved. May 20 marked what would have been Montoya’s 36th birthday, making this year’s presentation especially meaningful as her legacy continues to uplift and inspire others.

Her parents, Fernando and Stephanie Rover, said they remain committed to carrying forward Montoya’s spirit by helping young people pursue their dreams and build brighter futures.
