SAISD to Offer Free Summer Meals for Children Across San Antonio

Families Can Access Free Breakfast and Lunch This Summer Through SAISD’s Seamless Summer Nutrition Program

San Antonio ISD will once again provide free meals to children throughout the summer as part of the Texas Department of Agriculture’s “Seamless Summer Nutrition Program.”

The program will offer breakfast and lunch at no cost to children ages 18 and younger at participating campuses and locations across San Antonio from June 1 through July 31, depending on the site schedule. Students over 18 years old who remain enrolled in school through a special education program are also eligible to receive meals.

Free Meals Available Without Registration

District officials said no application is required to participate in the program, and children do not have to be enrolled in summer school or any SAISD academic program to receive meals.

The Seamless Summer Nutrition Program is federally required in districts with large populations of students eligible for free meals during the regular school year. The effort is designed to help families maintain access to nutritious food while school is out for the summer.

Breakfast and Lunch Times Vary by Location

Serving times will vary depending on the location. Breakfast service may begin as early as 7:30 a.m., while lunch service at some campuses will start at 10:30 a.m.

Families can view participating locations and schedules by visiting SAISD Nutrition Services.
