Beyoncé, Jay Z And Blue Ivy Turn The Met Gala Into A Carter Family Moment

The Cowboy Carter Era Is Officially Over For The 2026 Met Gala Co Chair, While Beyoncé Makes Sure Blue Ivy Serves Looks On The Carpet

Beyoncé made her return to the Met Gala on Monday night, but this time, the moment was bigger than fashion. The 2026 Met Gala co chair walked the carpet with her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, marking Blue’s first appearance at the high profile event.

“It feels surreal because my daughter is here,” Beyoncé told Vogue. “I am excited to experience it through her eyes.”

The Carter family turned the evening into a full family affair, with Jay Z also joining Beyoncé and Blue Ivy on the carpet. While Jay Z kept his look simple in a black tuxedo, Blue Ivy stepped into the spotlight wearing a white gown and fashionable shades.

When asked how she hoped people would celebrate the theme, Beyoncé said the night was about honoring all body types.

“Juicy, curvy, thin, [just] celebrating whatever god gave you.”

Beyoncé wore a custom gown designed by Olivier Rousteing, complete with a diamond headpiece that gave the look a royal finish. The outfit also marked another chapter in her long creative relationship with Rousteing.

“[He’s] someone that’s been so loyal to me, and I’ve done so many incredible, iconic looks with him, so it’s really about representing him,” Beyoncé said.

A Major Return After Nearly A Decade Away

The 2026 Met Gala marked Beyoncé’s first appearance at the event since 2016. Her return carried extra weight because of how much her career has evolved since her first Met Gala appearance in 2008.

Back then, Beyoncé was preparing to introduce the world to her Sasha Fierce era. The theme that year was “Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy.” Nearly two decades later, Beyoncé has built a career defined by reinvention, cultural influence and full creative control.

Now, fans are watching for what may come next.

The End Of The Cowboy Carter Era

Beyoncé’s Met Gala return also came as fans noticed changes to her website and social media. Last week, content tied to her “Cowboy Carter” era was removed from her website, while her Instagram shifted toward anniversary posts celebrating major projects like “Lemonade” and “Survivor.”

That has led many fans to believe Beyoncé may be preparing for the next phase of her ongoing act series. While nothing has been officially announced, the timing has only added to speculation that “Act III” could be closer than expected.

For now, Beyoncé used the Met Gala to close one chapter while opening another personal one, giving Blue Ivy her first major Met Gala moment in front of the world.
