Gonzaba Medical Group Expands with New Southeast Medical Center

Dr. William Gonzaba Continues His Decades-Long Commitment to Community Healthcare

The southeast side of San Antonio is gaining expanded access to comprehensive healthcare with the opening of the newly constructed Southeast Medical Center by Gonzaba Medical Group.

Conveniently located at the intersection of Goliad Road and E. Southcross in one of the city’s fastest-growing corridors, the 32,979-square-foot, two-story facility was designed to meet rising demand while delivering modern, patient-centered care. The spacious campus includes ample parking to accommodate patients and families comfortably.

A State-of-the-Art Medical Hub

The new center features:

• 38 exam rooms
• Primary care services
• Specialty care services
• Laboratory services
• Radiology and imaging (Ultrasound, X-ray, Dexa)
• Foot health services
• Dedicated patient advocate teams
• A Senior Event Center

With expanded space and updated infrastructure, the Southeast Medical Center is positioned to serve both longtime patients and new families moving into the area.

But this expansion is more than brick and mortar, it reflects decades of commitment to community healthcare.

A Legacy Built on Service

At the heart of Gonzaba Medical Group is founder and CEO William Gonzaba, a physician whose medical career began in 1960.

A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Texas Medical Branch, Dr. Gonzaba dedicated his career to family practice and general surgery. For nearly six decades, he has treated generations of San Antonio families guided by a simple philosophy: treat patients “como familia.”

Beyond the exam room, Dr. Gonzaba has served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and has remained deeply involved in mentoring minority medical professionals through leadership roles and advisory boards.

His impact has been recognized with numerous honors, including:

• Entrepreneur of the Year (Ernst & Young, Inc. Magazine, Merrill Lynch)
• Mexican American Physicians Association Hall of Fame Award
• Hispanic Magazine’s Adelante Award
• San Antonio Business Journal’s Healthcare Heroes Lifetime Achievement Award
• Legacy Leader Award

Those accolades speak to business success but in San Antonio’s neighborhoods, Dr. Gonzaba is known for something deeper: accessibility, cultural understanding, and long-term investment in community wellness.

Growth Rooted in Community

The Southeast Medical Center represents continued investment in the city’s south and southeast sides areas that have historically needed expanded healthcare access.

With modern facilities, comprehensive services under one roof, and a Senior Event Center designed to foster connection beyond clinical care, the new center signals that growth in San Antonio should include growth in healthcare equity.

For Dr. Gonzaba and his team, expansion is not about scale alone, it is about service.

After nearly 60 years of practicing medicine, the mission remains the same: keep families healthy, close to home.

And now, southeast San Antonio has a new front door to that care.
