Inside the Nation’s Largest MLK March, A City United for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
San Antonio came together in show of unity Monday as hundreds of thousands filled the streets for the nation’s largest Martin Luther King Jr. march, marking the 39th year of the city’s signature celebration honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
From the East Side to the nearly three-mile march route, the city moved with purpose and pride. Thousands lined the streets outside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Academy as families, students, faith groups, and community organizations gathered to reflect, celebrate, and recommit to Dr. King’s vision of justice and equality.
This year’s march featured keynote remarks from three-time Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas, while Grammy Award–winning singer and actress Coco Jones headlined the post-march festivities at Pittman-Sullivan Park.
