Bexar Central Appraisal District Issues Corrected Notice of 2025 Voting Entitlements
(News Release, Bexar Central Appraisal District) – The Bexar Central Appraisal District (BCAD) has issued a corrected notice to participating taxing units regarding the 2025 voting entitlements used in the appointment process for the district’s Board of Directors.
During a recent internal review, BCAD identified that the total number of votes distributed in the initial notice was carried over from the 2024 transition cycle and did not reflect the correct number of board positions to be filled for 2026. The correction aligns the total votes with Texas Property Tax Code § 6.03(d), which prescribes 1,000 votes per board position to be filled.
This adjustment affects only the total number of available votes, not the proportional voting percentages assigned to each taxing unit. The correction ensures that all calculations remain compliant with statutory requirements and does not affect election timelines or the appointment process.
Chief Appraiser Rogelio Sandoval stated,
Our office identified and addressed the discrepancy as part of our ongoing compliance review process. This correction reflects our continued commitment to accuracy, transparency, and accountability in all district operations.
Participating taxing units have been provided with a corrected voting entitlement notice to use when submitting their votes by the mandated deadline of December 15, 2025.
Bexar Central Appraisal District is responsible for appraising over 774,000 properties across Bexar County in accordance with Section 23.01 of the Texas Property Tax Code. For more information regarding BCAD services, contact (210) 224-2432 or visit the Help Center at www.bcad.org.
